Sally Pearce

SALLY arrived at film making by a roundabout route. After leaving Cambridge University with a BA(Hons) Philosophy, she trained as a nurse at Wrexham Maelor Hospital and worked as a geriatric and orthopaedic nurse in the NHS and private sectors. She started making films whilst taking a part time Fine Art Course at Sheffield Hallam University, where she financed her first films by competing successfully for a series of bursaries. Before she applied to the NFTS her dance, fiction and animation films had screened at many International Festivals. Her NFTS graduation film, ‘Elephants' is an adventurous children's fiction mixing live action with traditional paint on glass animation and 2D digital compositing, which is attracting a lot of attention on the Festival Circuit. Since graduating, she has been selected to direct a ‘Kaos' British Short Screenplay Competition winning (live action) script, and is currently working on that whilst developing a live action/animation feature film script for which she has been awarded a Welsh Arts Council grant for research and travel.
