I was born Jonathan Ash Topf in the deep southwest of England a month premature and spent the first months of my life either sleeping or crying with colic whilst my parents walked me up and down the Penryn river.Eventually I grew out of that and a few split lips, grazed knees and bruised shins later I found myself working for engineered arts where amongst many many other things, I worked on some animation.
It took a while but eventually I twigged that I could do the animation part of the job full time if I wanted.
Following my epiphany I applied to the UCA Farnham where I spent three years inside a cosy bubble of animation before being dropped in the all together different world of commercial animation.
Now I'm at the NFTS I have the best of both worlds; the cosy bubble of film school and the simultaneous terror of having to be a professional...
its very a good mix.
